Fit to have a Balanced Life

 

I am a Board-Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist who has been working with Cardiac patients for 25+ years.  Working in an environment with high risk patients deepened my understanding of how important it is to be healthy and well in an ever changing and fast-paced world. I found that these changes can create an excess amount of stress in our lives and cause not only physical, but mental disease as well. 

 

After having my first child, I started on my own exercise and diet program after gaining weight during pregnancy. As I made changes to my diet and added exercise into my daily routine, I found that I had more energy and mental clarity to use when juggling work, family and a social life. After the birth of my second child, I decided to try working one on one with personal trainers to build strength and remain healthy enough to juggle two kids, a husband and a full-time job. This experience drove me to learn more about personal fitness and health so much so that I pursued and received my Personal Training Certification through the NSPA in October of 2010. Over the years I then fell in love with Hatha and Vinyasa yoga and the mental clarity and physical strength. 

 

In January of 2015, I enrolled in a Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training course offered in Herndon, Virginia and decided to take on the 200-hour challenge. I was looking for something to enhance my life, promote wellness and help me through everyday life struggles. I wanted a better quality of life and found it through practicing Kundalini Yoga.  Throughout the 10-month long process I experienced a shift in my and my family’s life. I completed the Kundalini Yoga Teacher training in November of 2015.

In October of 2016 I received my Children's & Family yoga certification. While teaching Kundalini yoga, my 10-year-old niece became extremely interested in trying out the adult yoga classes. Her interest inspired me to learn more about how to present to and teach yoga to children through poses, art, literature and play so that they may benefit from the experience safely. I am now looking forward to teaching in schools and my community and plan on teaching children's classes from my home studio as well.

In November of 2018 I received my second 200-hour certification through Lifepower Yoga, specializing in Ashtanga Vinyasa Flow, Hatha Vinyasa Flow, Yin Yoga and Gentle Yoga. My personal yoga practice inspired me to learn more about how to teach other styles of yoga.

 

I now share my yoga teachings and experiences with friends and family from my new home studio. I am excited to help others develop and experience mental and emotional balance, deepen their sense of self-awareness, increase flexibility in the mind and body, and facilitate personal growth and transformation through exercise and the practice of Yoga.
