Children are constantly exposed to external stimulation (commonly through the abundance of electronic media) that they don’t ever receive the opportunity to understand or engage in mindfulness. This yogic practice encourages physical and emotional exercises through yoga poses related to art, literature and general play; all things children already do on their own. Encouraging children to practice yoga through these activities helps them focus inward and provides both a physical and mental release.
Practicing compassion, mindfulness, generosity, focus, strength, and flexibility are some of the tools yoga offers that children will carry with them well into adulthood.
